Bobcat Women Look to Keep Momentum Going Against Northern Colorado

The Montana State women's basketball team will look to keep its winning ways going when it hosts Northern Colorado on Saturday afternoon.

* Montana State continued its mastery over North Dakota, knocking off the Big Sky Conference leaders 78-67 on Thursday night. With the win, MSU swept UND and handed the Green, Black and White its third league loss, while snapping its five-game win streak at the same time. The Bobcats have defeated UND six-of-the-last-seven games, and have never lost to North Dakota in Worthington Arena.
* The Bobcats, who saw its five-game losing streak end, moved from seventh into a tie for fifth in the Big Sky standings along with Sacramento State and Idaho State. The top seven squads advance to the Big Sky Conference Tourney.
* Sophomore Jasmine Hommes led Montana State in its win over North Dakota with a game-high 20 points, including 17 coming in the first half. In the last five games, the Lynden, Wash., product is averaging 19.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 53 percent from the field, 60 percent from beyond the arc and 81 percent from the line. Hommes has had three 20+ scoring games in her last five outings.
* Also in double-figures vs. UND were Ashley Brumwell 16 and Kalli Durham 12.
* The Bobcats hold a 10-6 advantage in its all-time series with Northern Colorado going back to its first meeting - an 88-71 MSU win in Greeley on Feb. 22, 1980. Recently, the two squads have swapped victories in its last five contests. Montana State knocked off the Bears, earning a 68-55 decision in Butler-Hancock on Jan. 16. Jasmine Hommes paced MSU with 18 points, while Ashley Brumwell added 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Kalli Durham 13 points and seven boards. UNC was led by Stephanie Lee with 24 points, including a 16-of-18 night from the free throw line.
* Montana State ranks 11th in the nation averaging 5.8 blocks per game. The Bobcats swatted away seven North Dakota shots on Thursday night. Sophomore Alexa Dawkins came off the bench for four blocks, while Ashley Brumwell added three.
* The Bobcats are also ranked among the nation's top 50 in assist/turnover ratio, 34th, +1.10; assists, 38th, 16.2 apg; and turnover margin, 44th, +3.14.
* MSU averages 1,235 fans at home this year.
* In Big Sky Conference games, the Bobcats have four players ranked among the top 30 in scoring, including Jasmine Hommes, 7th, 15.5 ppg; Ashley Brumwell, 11th, 14.3 ppg; Kalli Durham, 27th, 11.3 ppg; and Jackie Elliott, 30th, 10.7 ppg.
* Northern Colorado dropped a 61-55 decision at Montana on Thursday night. The Bears shot 41 percent from the field and 94 percent from the line, but it wasn't enough to overcome a 15-point deficit in the second half. UNC received a strong performance from its bench, which out-scored the Lady Griz 19-7. Montana forced 17 Bear turnovers and out-rebounded Northern Colorado 34-29. UNC was led in the contest by Jamie Derrieux with 15 points and Stephanie Lee with 10 points.
* Northern Colorado leads the Big Sky Conference from the free throw line shooting at a 78 percent clip. The Bears also lead the league in three-point field-goal percentage defense, allowing its opponents to shoot just 28 percent from beyond the arc.
