Montana State Cross Country Teams Dole Out Awards

Turner, a product of Lolo and a Missoula Sentinel grad, had an outstanding season for the MSU men’s squad. For his efforts, Turner was named the team’s Top Gun winner for accumulating the most points during the season. In addition, he also garnered Most Improved accolades.
Montana State junior Jake Turner, freshman Caroline Hardin and junior Rachel Sullivan all were named Bobcat cross country award winners, announced assistant track and field/cross country coach Lyle Weese.
Turner, a product of Lolo and a Missoula Sentinel grad, had an outstanding season for the MSU men's squad. For his efforts, Turner was named the team's Top Gun winner for accumulating the most points during the season. In addition, he also garnered Most Improved accolades.
Turner finished the season earning All-Big Sky and All-Mountain Region kudos. He placed seventh at the Big Sky championships; 15th at the Mountain Region championships; and was 101st at the NCAA meet, running as MSU's lone qualifier.
Hardin, a product of Bozeman, earned the women's Top Gun award. Hardin started her Bobcat career leading MSU in its first three races, including the Montana State Invite, the UM Invitational and Indiana State Pre-National meet. Hampered with sickness and injury down the stretch, she placed 17th at the Big Sky championships.
Sullivan, who garnered Most Improved honors, had an outstanding championship season for the Bobcats. The Boise, Idaho native led MSU finishing 12th at the Big Sky meet and 29th at the Mountain Region championships. Sullivan opened the 2014 season as MSU's No. 3 runner in its first two meets.
