Turner Named Big Sky Runner of the Week

The Big Sky Conference has selected the men's and women's Cross Country Athletes of the Week. Montana State's Jake Turner and Northern Arizona's Melanie Townsend earned the honor after outstanding performances this past weekend.
Turner, a junior from Lolo, Mont. led the Bobcats with a time of 24:42.97 in the 8K men's competition at the Brawl of the Wild dual meet against Big Sky rival Montana. The Bobcats won the competition with a final score of 20-36.
Townsend, a redshirt sophomore from Melbourne, Australia picked up her second female Athlete of the Week honor after finishing second in the 6K with a time of 20 minutes, 18 seconds at the Washington Invitational this weekend. Townsend narrowly fell to Elise Cranney of No. 4 Stanford and topped runners from No. 3 Oregon and No. 16 Washington in competition.
