Bobcats Win Third Men's All Sports Trophy in Last Decade

MSU climbs to top of the Sky's men's athletic programs
Finishing fifth in the 2013 Big Sky Conference Track and Field Championships last weekend brought satisfaction for a Bobcat men's squad picked to finish in that spot in the preseason. But it brought more than that to Montana State University Athletics.
For the fifth time in school history and the third time in the last decade, MSU captured the Big Sky Conference Men's All-Sports Trophy for 2012-13. The Cats won that trophy twice in the mid-1960s, 1964-65 and 1966-67. After a 35-year drought, MSU won the award in 2002-03, 2004-05, and now 2012-13. Last summer, MSU was awarded the Big Sky President's Cup as the league's top achieving athletic program in athletics and academics combined.
Bobcat men's athletic teams captured shares of two league championships during the just-completed academic year, winning regular season co-championships in football and men's tennis. The Bobcats also finished second in indoor track and field and third in cross country, but the fifth-place finish in outdoor track was the team's lowest in the 11-team Big Sky.
MSU's women's teams combined to finish eighth in the league's women's all-sports race.
