Montana State Skiers Finish Ninth at NCAA Skiing Championship

David Norris and Annie Liotta paced the Montana State ski team to its best day of the 2013 NCAA Skiing Championship, finishing 12th and 13th in their respective Nordic freestyle races to lift the Bobcats to a final ninth place finish Saturday afternoon.

Norris, a sophomore from Fairbanks, Alaska, recorded 28 points for the Bobcats, covering the 20-kilometer course in 50:40.3. He was followed by Tyler Reinking, 15th, 50:51.6, and Pat Madden, 30th, 53:04.3
Utah's Miles Havlick won the men's individual title with a clocking of 50:13.4.
Liotta, a freshman from Anchorage, Alaska, guided MSU finishing the 15K event in 39:57.6, good for 27 points. Also factoring into the scoring for the Bobcats were Jessica Yeaton, 18th, 40:40.4, and Isabella Smith, 30th, 41:23.9.
Colorado's Joanne Reid won the women's crown in 38:17.8.
Colorado overcame a 54-point deficit, the largest in NCAA history, to pass Vermont, who held the lead for three days, on the final day to win its 19th national title. The Buffaloes recorded 708 points and were followed in the top ten by Utah 665, Vermont 653, Denver 629, Dartmouth 594, New Mexico 576, Alaska-Anchorage 493.5, Montana State 422, and Middlebury 357.
