
Cross Country Earns All-Academic Honors Again

Bobcat Harriers make the grade
Both the Montana State Men's and Women's Cross Country teams have made the grade once again. The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2012 All-Academic Teams and both the men's and women's list feature Bobcat Cross Country.
For the women, this marks the 17th consecutive season the team has earned these national accolades and this year the team posted a 3.09 GPA. The Ducks of Oregon were named the 2012 Scholar Team of the Year for their 3.66 GPA and overall performance at the NCAA Championship. The University of South Carolina, Columbia boasted the highest overall GPA with 3.743.
The men put up a 3.207 GPA, upholding their continued academic success . Memphis boasts the highest GPA at 3.65. Oklahoma State was the men's overall Scholar Team for 2012.
Five Big Sky Conference schools were also included in the list for the women and six for the men.
"Academic honors are always of the utmost important to us," said head coach Dale Kennedy. "These kids don't just pour themselves into their sport but also are truly devoted to their academic goals. Supporting the mission of the department and the school is what exemplifies them as true student-athletes."
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team grade point average of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
