Homecoming Mostly About Game for Bobcat Coaches, Players

Packed house, electric atmosphere part of routine for Cats
The buzz around Montana State University's 2013 Homecoming festivities were palpable around Bozeman throughout the week.
Everywhere, that is, except inside the Bobcat football coaching offices and locker rooms.
"This week is not very different in terms of our preparation," said MSU coach Rob Ash. "For us it's about the game and the opponent, and we don't get too involved in the external activities. That's not meant to disrespect all the hard work and enjoyment, but that has to be our approach."
With his attention fully trained on Northern Arizona, Ash got an eyeful all week. "NAU is an excellent football team," Ash said. "From our perspective, Homecoming is about Northern Arizona. They are 1-0, they beat Montana last week, and they present a big challenge."

When folks around the Gallatin Valley weren't talking about this weekend's Homecoming game, they most likely were discussing the status of Bobcat quarterback DeNarius McGhee.
Ash said MSU's senior signal caller had a good week of practice after his first game since a shoulder injury sidelined him for two games. "He feels really good and we're 100% that he's completely ready to go," Ash said. "If we weren't we wouldn't have played him last week."

Today's contest features a pair of bruising backs. NAU's Zach Bauman has rushed for 396 yards through four games of his senior season, and has 4,072 career yards. On the opposite sideline, Montana State's Cody Kirk has 344 yards through four games this year, but has 10 rushing touchdowns.
