Sacramento State out-hit Montana State .398 to .095 to cruise to a 25-17, 16-25, 25-16, 25-8 victory over the Bobcats, Saturday night in Hornet Gym.
Sacramento State (10-11, 5-5) had three players in double-figure kills led by Sloan Lovett with 15. Montana State (5-15, 3-6) was paced by Kennadie Clute with 17 kills, while Anna Sykora added 27 assists and Nicole Baker chipped in a team-high 10 digs.
"We saw the many faces of MSU volleyball," said MSU head coach Kyle Weindel. "We saw the very young, inexperienced group that was unable to play up to the pressure the match was built up to be. We didn't step up to the challenge."
The Hornets held the statistical advantage in all categories, including a sizeable 12-2 margin in blocking. In MSU's lone set win, the Bobcats out-hit Sacramento State .545 to .091, but couldn't sustain the momentum coming out of intermission.
"We need to regroup and refocus," Weindel said. "We'll definitely need a better effort than we got tonight when we face Montana on Monday night."
MSU will play at Montana on Monday at 7 p.m.
