Radford – Irwin Top Five at RMISA Qualifier, Bobcats 5th at CU Invitational

Montana State standout sophomore Michael Radford finished second at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association giant slalom qualifier, Friday afternoon. Radford posted a two-run total of 2:08.38.

Utah's Andy Trow won the race in 2:08.01.
Also posting top 30 finishes were Sam Monsen, 27th, 2:15.29, and Ryan McConnell, 29th, 2:19.09. Mike Mackie did not finish his first run, while David Owsley did not complete his second run.
On the women's side, Stephanie Irwin continued her hot start to the season, placing fourth overall in a clocking of 2:08.83. She was followed in the top 10 by teammates Kelly McBroom, sixth, 2:08.96, and Emily Danza, tenth, 2:10.08.
Denver's Kristine Haugen won the qualifier in a time of 2:05.54.
Other Bobcat finishers included Tenaya Driller, 16th, 2:11.77, Terra Moran, 19th, 2:12.28, Jacqueline Lebel, 23rd, 2:13.87, and Marissa Riopelle, 24th, 2:16.07.
After two alpine events at the Spencer James Nelson Memorial hosted by the University of Colorado, the Bobcats sit in fifth place with 300.5 points. DU leads the meet with 423.5 points, followed by CU 417, New Mexico 401, Alaska-Anchorage 311, MSU, Utah 288, Westminster 259, and Colorado Mountain College 20.
Monsen had the best showing in the men's slalom race, finishing tenth overall in a time of 1:48.48. Monsen's second run of the day was the second fastest overall as he notched a clocking of 56.35. Also scoring points for the Bobcats were Mackie, 14th, 1:51.28, and Radford, 17th, 1:55.90.
The MSU women were led in their first slalom race of the winter by Danza, who was 12th overall in 2:05.18. Also posting points were Moran, 13th, 2:06.08, and McBroom, 14th, 2:07.93.
The Nordic freestyle and classical races with conclude the CU Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
