MSU among nation's elite programs after fall sports
Propelled by another strong football campaign, Montana State exits the fall sports season in 16th place in the 2012-13 Capital One Cup men's athletics standings.
The Bobcats received 18 points for advancing to the quarterfinal round of the Division I FCS Playoffs. That leaves MSU student-athletes in competition for the $200,000 in scholarship awards based on performance by each of a school's athletic programs over the course of the academic year. Capital One sponsors the annual competition. Montana State won a share of its third straight Big Sky football title in 2012, and Bobcat skiers and track and field student-athletes traditionally help MSU add points in winter and spring sports.
In 2011-12, Montana State won the Big Sky Conference President's Cup, a similar competition among league schools. Fall sports national champions Alabama, North Dakota State and Indiana share first place after the fall sports season with 60 points.
