MSU, Rob Ash visit Cat coach's old stomping grounds
The Bulldogs welcome a familiar face back to Des Moines on Saturday, when Montana State comes to Drake Stadium led by sixth-year head coach Rob Ash. The winningest head coach in Drake football history, Ash arrived in Bozeman prior to the 2007 season after 18 seasons and 125 victories at Drake. As MSU's head coach, Ash has led MSU to 40 wins and a pair of Big Sky titles in five-plus seasons.
MSU Game Notes vs. Drake
FOR OPENERS
* Montana State and Drake each seek to repeat as conference champions this season, with the 2012 Bulldogs looking for back-to-back Pioneer Football League titles for the first time and MSU eye-balling three straight Big Sky crowns.
* Rob Ash's 40 wins at Montana State brings him to within seven of becoming the Bobcats' all-time wins leader (47, Sonny Holland), which would give him the distinction of topping the all-time wins list at three different schools
STADIUM STUFF
* MSU's only previous visit to Drake was a 54-0 thrashing by the Bulldogs in 1940
* Rob Ash was 82-20-1 in home games as Drake's head coach
BIG SKY BULLET POINTS
* Montana State's 135 yards allowed was the fewest by a Big Sky team last week
* Bobcat quarterback DeNarius McGhee was the only league player to throw four touchdown passes or more last week
