Bobcat Skiers Finish Fifth at UAA Invitational

After a week of two competitions running simultaneously and dealing with inclement weather, the Montana State ski team closed out the University of Alaska-Anchorage Invitational in fifth place following the alpine slalom event late Friday.
After a week of two competitions running simultaneously and dealing with inclement weather, the Montana State ski team closed out the University of Alaska-Anchorage Invitational in fifth place following the alpine slalom event late Friday.
Montana State freshman Stephanie Irwin had her best finish of the season, placing seventh with a two-run total of 1:43.81. She was followed in
MSU's top three by Marissa Riopelle, 11th, 1:45.70; and Jacqueline Lebel, 25th, 2:27.91.
Tii-Maria Romar of Utah won the women's event in 1:40.36.
The Bobcat men's alpine squad was led in the slalom by Ryan McConnell, who finished 25th in 1:45.36. Also scoring points for MSU were Michael Radford, 26th, 1:46.23; and David Owsley, 27th, 1:46.49.
Espen Lysdahl of Denver captured the men's title in 1:36.73.
No. 1-ranked Utah won the UAA Invite team title with 898 points, The Utes were followed by Colorado 831, Denver 775, UAA 718, MSU 688, New Mexico 686, Westminster 353 and Colorado Mountain College 51.
Other MSU Finishers: (Women's Slalom)- Kelly McBroom, DNF, 1st Run; Terra Moran, DQ, First Run. (Men's Slalom)- Geoffrey Irwin, DNF, 2nd run; Mike Mackie, DQ, 2nd Run.
