Montana State freshman ski standout David Norris finished second at the 2012 United States Cross Country Ski Championship in Rumford, Maine, Friday morning.
The native of Fairbanks, Alaska posted a clocking of 1:18.31 in the 30-kilometer classic race.
“David is such a serious skier and a tough competitor,” said MSU Nordic coach Grethe Hagensen. “This is a big honor for David and really sets the tone for things to come on the RMISA (Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association) circuit.”
Noah Hoffman, a member of the US National Team, won the event in 1:17:48.
The 30-kilometer race capped off an outstanding week for Norris, who also placed seventh in the 15K skate and eighth in the sprint race on Tuesday.
Also competing in the US Cross Country Championships was sophomore Jessica Yeaton, who finished 18th in the women's 20K event.
The Montana State Nordic team will open its 2012 season at the Colorado Invitational next weekend.
