Big Sky Conference announces Fall Academic Teams
The Big Sky Conference has announced the 354 members of the 2011 Fall All-Academic teams for football, volleyball, soccer and men's and women's cross country. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: participated in at least half of the team's competitions, achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term ,and completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution
Six MSU men and four women were named to the team.
Seth Garbett - Health and Human Performance
Seth Grossman - English
Forrest Jarvi - Anthropology
Jacob Kirk - Mechanical Engineering
Trevor Polson - Health and Human Performance
Jake Turner - Biological Sciences
Emily Garneau - Pre-Medicine
Heather Haug - Health and Human Performance
Rebecca Sorenson - Cell Biology and Neuroscience
Keely West - Elementary Education
“Any time our student-athletes gain this recognition, it is huge accomplishment,” said head coach Dale Kennedy. “The effort these kids put in for their academics and their sport is immense and it pays off both on the course and in the classroom.”
In addition to track and field, 18 football players and seven volleyball players were also named to the Big Sky Fall Academic Team.
