Congratulations 2011 Graduates!

On behalf of the Montana State Department of Athletics, we'd like to commend the 48 student-athletes who graduated on Saturday, May 7. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors and thank you for all your contributions to MSU.
The success of all our student-athletes is important both off and on the field. Several athletes have gone above and beyond what is expected of them and will be reaping those benefits as they leave Montana State and either further their education or enter the work force.
Jordan Craney, a strong safety, played in 10 games for the Bobcats, making 48 tackles. The Pocatello, Idaho native graduates from MSU with a degree in business marketing. He will continue his education at Boise State (Idaho) as one of the first students in the Sports Management Graduate Program. Throughout his career, he maintained above a 3.0 grade point average and graduate with Institutional Honors.
Although he still finishing up his track and field career, Adam Hutter has closed the academic portion of his time at MSU. The Ontario, Calif. native majored in electrical engineering and has accepted a job related to his field in Billings, Mont. Hutter will compete at the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, May 11-14. He is qualified in the high jump and long jump.
Kristen Schaffer, a member of the throws corps for Bobcat track and field, leaves Bozeman with a degree in construction engineering technology with a minor in business administration. She has recently accepted a job in North Dakota. As a Bobcat, she is the current record holder in the shot put at 50-02.00, set back in 2009. She placed third in the shot put twice at the Big Championships and was the runner-up once, earning all-conference honors each time. She was an USTFCCCA All-Academic team honoree in 2008.
Laura Villegas, of the women's tennis team, after earning her degree in economics and political science, will further her education by staying at MSU and pursuing a master's degree in economics. Villegas graduated with her bachelor's degree with institutional highest honors and honors program acknowledgment. Throughout her academic and athletic career, she maintained above a 3.70 grade point average and was a Big Sky Conference All-Academic selection all four years. On the court, she was twice named to the All-Big Sky Conference Women's Tennis team.
