Bignell, McGhee, Terrien Named Bobcat Captains

Captain presentation caps award ceremony at Sonny Holland Classic
Montana State's 2011 team captains offer something familiar and something a little new.
Linebacker Clay Bignell and center Alex Terrien provide the familiar ring. Bignell becomes the second former Helena Capital Linebacker to serve as a Bobcat team captain in the last four years, along with Bobby Daly, and Alex Terrien becomes the 10th MSU offensive lineman in the past nine years to serve as a team captain. Terrien wears number 61 in honor of former Bobcat teammate and team captain Jim Verlanic.
Quarterback DeNarius McGhee provides the new twist. McGhee becomes the first Bobcat sophomore on record to earn the captaincy, and also becomes the first Bobcat quarterback to serve as a captain since Travis Lulay in 2005. Lulay was a two-time team captain.

Tom Parac Award for Most Improved Offensive Player: Conrad Burbank (Reno, NV)
Jon Montoya Award for Most Improved Defensive Player: CB James Andrews (Rockwall, TX)
Chuck Karnop Award for Mental and Physical Toughness: RB Cody Kirk (Frenchtown), LB Jody Owens (Mesquite, TX)
Cliff Hysell Award for Courage: WR Elvis Akpla (Portland, OR)
