Despite two of its four alpine qualifiers not finishing the slalom on the final day of the 2011 NCAA Skiing Championships, the Montana State ski team held on to a top 10 showing at the national meet.

Despite two of its four alpine qualifiers not finishing the slalom on the final day of the 2011 NCAA Skiing Championships, the Montana State ski team held on to a top 10 showing at the national meet.

MSU's highest finish on the final day came from sophomore Geoff Irwin, who placed 19th overall in a two-run time of 1:52.26. Vermont's Tim Kelley won the event in 1:39.42.

Chris Barber, who posted the ninth fastest first run, was disqualified in his second race.

The Bobcat women were led by Marissa Riopelle, who placed 21st with a two-run clocking of 2:02.11. She rebounded from a 1:06.02 first run with the eighth best showing in her final run of the day.

Karen Bell posted a 1:04.71 first run for the Bobcats, but did not finish the second run.

Denver's Sterling Grant won the women's individual slalom crown in 1:54.27.

Colorado won its 18th national title with 831 points. The Buffaloes were followed in the top ten by Utah 750.5, Dartmouth 643, New Mexico 632, Denver 592, Vermont 575.5, Alaska-Anchorage 488.5, New Hampshire 344, Middlebury 246.5, and Montana State 230.
