The Montana State ski team sits in sixth place at the University of Denver Invitational after two top ten finishes- one on the alpine side and one in the Nordic events, Saturday afternoon.

The Montana State ski team sits in sixth place at the University of Denver Invitational after two top ten finishes- one on the alpine side and one in the Nordic events, Saturday afternoon.
In Nordic action, senior Bernhard Roenning was sixth in the 10-kilometer classic race in 28:19.6, while teammate Chris Barber matched his showing in slalom with a two-run time of 1:20.53.
Roenning was followed by Ryan Scott, 14th, 29:18.9, and Michael Schallinger, 17th, 29:31.3, in the scoring column for the Bobcats.
Also posting times were Luke Bromley, 19th, 29:53.1; Drew Scott, 24th, 30:29.4; and Tyler Reinking, 27th, 30:40.5.
Ryan McConnell and Mike Mackie scored points for MSU in slalom, as well. McConnell, a freshman, finished 18th in a time of 1:21.79, while Mackie followed closely in 19th in 1:21.87.
Geoff Irwin, 26th, 1:24.60; Paul Britvar, 29th, 1:27.54; and Chet Cook, 30th, 1:29.40, rounded out MSU's finishers.
In women's action, the Nordic squad was led by Casey Kutz, 15th, 16:44.4; Ase Carlson, 17th, 16:52.4; and Jessica Yeaton, 17:14.7.
The alpine squad was paced by Karen Bell, 17th, 1:32.27; Marissa Riopelle, 22nd, 1:41.09; and Ali Leighton, 25th, 1:50.10.
New Mexico sits atop the team standing after three of the four events with 648 points. The Lobos are followed by Colorado and Denver 644, Utah 642, Alaska-Anchorage 476, MSU 462, Westminster 253, and Wyoming.
The meet will conclude on Sunday with the Nordic freestyle races.
