Despite opening the match with a decisive 25-19 victory in the first set, the Montana State volleyball team couldn’t hang on as Eastern Washington rallied to take the next three sets 25-7, 25-17, 25-18, Saturday night on Reese Court.
Despite opening the match with a decisive 25-19 victory in the first set, the Montana State volleyball team couldn't hang on as Eastern Washington rallied to take the next three sets 25-7, 25-17, 25-18, Saturday night on Reese Court.
Montana State (3-20, 2-10) outhit Eastern Washington (12-11, 8-4) .304 to .109 to take the first stanza, but it was all EWU in the final three sets as the Eagles reversed its fortune outhitting the Bobcats .408 to .099.
Montana State sophomore Sarah Horton paced the Bobcats with her fourth double-double of the season, recording a team-high 14 kills, while adding 16 digs. Also in double-digit kills for the Bobcats was Rachelle Allen with ten.
Defensively, Montana State was led by Nicole Baker with a match-high 25 digs. Freshman Kasey Schlatter was also in double-figures with ten saves. At the net, MSU was guided by Alex Penewell with a team-best six blocks.
Bobcat setter Jennifer Lundquist dished out 38 assists, while adding nine digs and three blocks.
Eastern Washington was led by Cora Kellerman with 19 kills and 17 digs.
MSU will travel to Montana on Nov. 4
