Helena Capital soph becomes third Bobcat D-lineman to capture award in 2011
Sophomore Brad Daly gave Bo Beck a 2011 Big Sky Player of the Week hat trick on Monday, becoming the third Bobcat defensive lineman to earn the league's weekly kudos in the last four weeks.
“It's great that it's three different guys,” said Beck, MSU's fifth-year defensive line coach of his group that includes previous 2011 players of the week Zach Minter and Caleb Schreibeis. “They're really playing well.”
The Helena Capital product registered three sacks Saturday, pushing his season total to a Big Sky-leading six for the season. His effort helped the Bobcats smother the NAU offense which led the league prior to Saturday's game. The Lumberjacks gained just 298 against MSU, 145 below its season average entering the game.
Daly's first sack came on a third-and-11 in the first quarter with the score tied at 7-7, setting up a Montana State touchdown drive. This is his first Player of the Week Honor.
