Montana State Ski Team in Sixth Place after Alpine Events

The Montana State ski team sits in sixth place after the completion of the alpine events at the University of Utah Invitational over the weekend. The Nordic races will take place Jan. 21-22 at Soldier Hollow in Midway, Utah.
The Montana State ski team sits in sixth place after the completion of the alpine events at the University of Utah Invitational over the weekend. The Nordic races will take place Jan. 21-22 at Soldier Hollow in Midway, Utah.
On Sunday, it was the Bobcat men's team that took center stage. Sophomore Chris Barber paced MSU finishing eighth in the slalom with a two run total of 1:41.66.
Barber was followed by Paul Britvar, 21st, 1:46.74; Geoff Irwin, 22nd, 1:48.86; and Michael Mackie, 26th, 1:59.61.
Ryan McConnell did not finish the first run, while Chet Cook did not start the second run.
The Montana State women's team was led by newcomer Marissa Riopelle, who placed 11th with a two run clocking of 1:30.34.
She was followed by Terra Moran, 23rd, 1:35.79, Karen bell, 26th, 1:37.80; Hannah Victory, 27th, 1:38.61; and Ali Leighton, 34th, 2:48.12.
Colorado leads the team standings after two events with a total of 444 points. The Buffaloes are followed by Utah 435, New Mexico 421.5, Denver 412, Alaska-Anchorage 318.5 and MSU 281.
The Bobcats will host its own MSU Invitational next weekend.
