As starting points go, Rob Ash found Monday's opening practice of fall football drills at Montana State a good one.
"I liked the energy, the enthusiasm," Ash said after opening his third fall camp as Bobcat head coach. "There was a lot of that today, and that was good. There were a lot of guys concentrating on the team today, not so much about (individuals), but about the team, getting things done right as a team. I liked all that."
Ash was also pleased with his team's physical conditioning on the first day of fall drills. "I'm pretty happy with our conditioning," he said. "We ran a lot of plays with no breaks, pass skeleton was a lot of reps and we got through that in good shape. All in all the guys are in good condition, which is excellent."
Montana State practices at 3 pm Tuesday through Thursday on the MSU practice fields. Wednesday's practice marks MSU's first of the season in shoulder pads, while the team goes in full gear on Saturday.

PERSONNEL PALAVER: Starting cornerback Arnold Briggs missed Monday's drills with a knee injury, Bobcat coach Ash said. He is scheduled for tests on Tuesday. Ash also indicated that freshman linebacker Brad Daly will report to camp once classes begin.
