Tyrrell Gets NCAA At-Large Javelin Bid

Tyrrell, a sophomore from Grand Forks, North Dakota, will be one of two Bobcat javelin throwers at the meet. Junior Nick Lam qualified for the nationals by placing third at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet last weekend. Lam sits 24th on the descending order list of 25 in the men’s javelin and Tyrrell is 19th of 27 in the women’s event.
“This is a great accomplishment for these kids,” head coach Dale Kennedy said. “It’s also a credit to Jorah Griffith, their coach, who has done a great job of guiding their training and preparing them for the nationals.”
This is Lam’s third trip to the national championships and Tyrrell’s first. Lam, a product of Billings Skyview High School, placed 15th in the event at the 2007 national championships as a freshman.
