Montana State practices on Wednesday at 3:35 pm in Bobcat Stadium. Below is a look at MSU's spring camp through nine practices...
SCRIMMAGE #2 REVIEW
A series of mistakes in Saturday’s second scrimmage provided Rob Ash and his staff a teaching opportunity on Monday.
“You could say Monday was a fix-it day from Saturday’s scrimmage,” Ash said. “We felt Saturday that we saw too many mistakes on offense that resulted in negative plays.”
Defensively, Ash was pleased with his squad’s effort. “We were solid on defense, although we had something like 28 mental errors. What pleased me the most was the fact that we had some good stops. The offense started four possessions inside the 50, and the defense forced a missed field goal, a blocked field goal, an interception, and a three-and-out.”
BUMPS AND BRUISES
Montana State’s injury situation entering the home stretch of spring drills isn’t a matter of how many or how severe. It’s simply a matter of which positions.
“We’re banged up in the skill positions,” said MSU coach Rob Ash. “It affects our depth, and it’s limited our ability to evaluate the power run game, tackling, some of those kinds of things.”
Running back Ricky Evans and linebacker Jared Rohrback remain sidelined with concussions, likely through this weekend. Beyond that, most of those battling injuries remain day-to-day.
LOOKING AHEAD
Montana State faces its third scrimmage of the spring on Saturday, when the Bobcats knock heads at 11 am in Bobcat Stadium.
The Bobcats face six more spring practices, beginning with Wednesday afternoon’s 3:40 pm session. The team also face a Friday-Saturday-Monday-Wednesday stretch leading to the Triangle Classic Spring Game in Great Falls on April 18.
