Two MSU Throwers Dominate BSC Awards

Senior Dan van Swearingen posted an impressive javelin mark at the Al Manuel Invitational in Missoula over the weekend. His throw of 211-10 rockets him to the top of the Big Sky performance list and qualifies him for the NCAA regional meet. Van Swearingen hails from Great Falls.
On the women's side, teammate Amanda Murphy, a sophomore from Charlo, won the women's field athlete award for her multi-event performance at the same meet. Murphy won the shot put with a mark of 48-2.5, the second best toss in the conference to date. The throw is a conference and regional qualifier. She also placed second in the hammer and tenth in the discus.
