Keenen Stangl, a senior at Buffalo High School in the Minneapolis area, is a prep standout in the 110-meter hurdles, having placed eighth in the state meet his junior season. Stangl runs the 200 and 300-meter hurdles as well. He is also a National Honor Society member and plans to major in pre-medicine at MSU in the hopes of seeking a career in dentistry.
“We’re really excited to get Keenen to come here as we are losing our only 110 hurdler to graduation next year. He’ll be our go-to guy down the road,” Kennedy said.
Tara Will, a senior at Helena Capital, will come to MSU as a 400 and middle distance runner after training as a jumper in her early high school career. She was sixth at the AA state meet last year in the 800 in her first year running the race. Will was an academic all-state selection her sophomore and junior years and is a National Honor Society member. She plans to major in Cell Biology and Neuroscience.
“We think Tara has a lot of potential as a runner,” Kennedy said. “I think she’s going to turn into a real good middle distance runner and it’s great to have such a good student coming into our program.”
Madeline Fuchs, an honor student at University High School in Spokane, will come to MSU as a hurdler but has a range of talents and could even wind up in distance or steeplechase. In high school, her strongest event is the 300-meter hurdles and she also runs the short hurdles and legs in both relays.
“Madeline also ran cross country at University,” Kennedy said. “We’re excited to have someone with her range of abilities. She’ll fit in well here.”
Kennedy also announced the signing of former Polson standout Chris Ogle, who will be transferring to MSU for the University of Mary. Ogle was the 2007 800-meter champ in AA and has three years of eligibility remaining.
