Big Sky Conference Golf Tourney Preview

“Four Seniors and a Freshman”
It may sound like the name of a movie, but it’s actually the make-up of the 2009 Montana State golf squad headed for the Big Sky Conference Tournament in Chandler, Arizona April 20-22. The tourney team is led by senior Kelly Gillum, this year’s BSC Golfer of the Year. In previous conference tourney outings, Gillum has come away with three all-tournament honors. Joining her will be seniors Shannon Donegan (Denver, CO), Hillary Folkvord (Three Forks), LaRae Smith (Sierra Vista, AZ), and freshman Leslie McGetrick (Highlands Ranch, CO).

YARDAGE: 6,108 yards. PAR: 72. FORMAT: 54 holes
TEAMS COMPETING: Eastern Washington, Idaho State, Montana, Montana
State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Portland State, Sacramento
State, Weber State.
DEFENDING TEAM CHAMPION: Portland State
THE WINNER: The team champion will represent the Big Sky Conference at an
NCAA Regional on May 7-9. The West Regional site is at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.
The NCAA Women’s Championship is May 19-22 in Owings Mills, Maryland.
