Nick Lam Tosses Conference-Leading Throw at Sun Angel

The highly competitive meet was attended by national powerhouse teams such as Louisiana State, Auburn, Arizona, Washington, BYU,and many others in addition to host Arizona State.
Two MSU athletes competed in the premiere division of the meet. Dan Johnson finished 12th in the 400 in a field that included 11 NCAA regional qualifying marks. Johnson’s time of 47.33 was .13 off the regional qualifying time and a season’s best. Ellie Rudy placed fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 12’10”. Rudy had qualified for the NCAA regional meet the day before at the Mesa Classic.
In the university division, junior Nick Lam jumped to the top of the Big Sky Conference performance list with a season best regional qualifying toss in the javelin of 214’11” to win the event. Teammate Dan van Swearingen took second in javelin of 213’7”. with a season best toss of Nick Atwood finished fourth in the university division of the 5000 with a time of 14:21.91, a season best in the event and the third best performance in the conference to date. Casey Clausen threw a 53’3.75” mark in the shot put for fourth place.
In the regular university sections, Heather Haug and Kala Jauquet placed fifth and six in the 1500. Allison Jones finished second in the shot put with a regional qualifying mark of 47’0.25”. Lena Suek and Emily Tyrrell finished four-five in the javelin.
The Bobcats head to California next weekend for a three-meet swing.
