Weber State earned wins at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to gain the early advantage and held on for a 5-2 victory over Montana State, Sunday morning in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.
Montana State dropped four-of-six singles matches, but received points at the No. 4 and 5 positions.
Sophomore Fletcher Keyes posted his second win of the weekend with a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Chris Williams. Fuentes, a freshman from Mexico, also posted a win with a 6-4, 6-7, 10-4 victory over Travis Covington.
The Bobcats notched one win in doubles play as its top duo of Jakub Dybala and Pawel Turzanski posted an 8-3 victory at the No. 1 position.
“Weber State is playing excellent tennis,” said MSU men’s coach Mike Phillips. “I thought our guys competed hard, but we came up short in some crucial matches.”
