Montana State Tennis Teams Drop Matches over Weekend

The Bobcat women’s squad suffered a 7-0 setback to No. 42 Sacramento State and lost a hard-fought 4-3 decision at UC-Davis.
Against UCD, Montana State (5-8, 2-1) dropped the opening doubles point, before capturing the top three spots in the singles ladder. Stephanie Jasper, Missy Harris and Laura Villegas all posted victories.
“The top of our ladder remains very tough,” said MSU women’s coach Denise Albrecht. “We need to address our play in doubles, but once we get that figured out, I think we can make a significant run in the next month.”
Against perennial Big Sky power Sacramento State, the Bobcats were swept at all six singles spots. MSU’s highlight of the match came at No. 2 doubles, where the team of Jasper and Harris defeated Melissa Valenzuela and Milica Zivanovic 8-4.

MSU’s lone win came at No. 2 doubles, where the duo of Corey Smith and Alberto Fuentes posted an 8-3 victory over Daniel Pez and Julian Sanchez.
