MSU Cross Country Teams Receive Academic All America Awards

MSU’s men placed in the top 15 on the list with a cumulative 3.43 grade point average. Weber State, with a cumulative GPA of 3.45, was the only other Big Sky Conference team honored in the top 15. Eastern Washington was in the top 110 with a GPA of 3.33. The MSU women were honored on the women’s side with a team GPA of 3.36. Three other BSC teams made the women’s list: Weber State (3.45 GPA), Idaho State (3.35 GPA) and Northern Arizona (3.160 GPA).
For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative grade point average.
Vanderbilt University had the highest overall men’s team grade point average (3.755). University of South Carolina had the highest women’s overall team grade point average (3.767). A record total of 160 Division I women’s programs received the All-Academic Team honors this year compared to 158 schools from last season. A record total of 110 Division I men’s programs received the USTFCCCA’s All-Academic Team honors this year compared to 98 schools earning the honor last season. The Big East had the most men’s teams in the top 15 with three. The Big Sky Conference was second with two.
This marks the third consecutive year that head coach Dale Kennedy’s men’s teams have been Academic All-America and the 13th consecutive year for the women.
