Kelly Gillum Captures First Collegiate Golf Tourney Win at Sedona

She started the final round of the two-day event in a tie for fifth place after a first round of 75, and ended up shooting a field-topping 73 to take medalist honors with 148 for the tourney. Gillum topped Ashley Bauer of Michigan by three strokes for the crown.
“She played solidly all the way around,” Montana State head coach Leslie Spalding said.
Montana State finished seventh in a field of 18 that included the University of Michigan, Winthrop, Oral Roberts, Xavier, and perennial Big Sky powers Portland State and Northern Arizona.
Senior LaRae Smith shot a 83-78 to tie for 33rd for the next best Bobcat performance. Senior Shannon Donegan pulled out of the competition on Sunday with a knee injury.
