Houston Women’s Tennis Team Squeaks past Bobcats

The Cougars (5-1) jumped out to the first point of the match, sweeping all three doubles contests.
Montana State (2-3) responded by winning the top half of the singles ladder.
Leading the Bobcats was sophomore Stephanie Jasper, who rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 decision at No. 1 over Houston’s Lucy Forward. Also earning points for MSU were Laura Villegas at No. 2 and Missy Harris at No. 3.
Villegas, a junior from Cota, Columbia posted a 6-4, 7-6 win over Laura Ring, while Harris, a Billings Senior graduate, remained unbeaten in singles action with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Lynley Wasson.
“The top part of our line-up is tough,” said MSU head coach Denise Albrecht. “We need to work on the doubles point, but I’m very pleased with how we competed at every position considering it was our first time outside in over five months.”
The Bobcats will play Louisiana-Monroe on Friday afternoon.
