Perry Leads Four in Double-Figures as Bobcat Women Tame Bengals

Montana State’s (11-13, 5-7) Sarah Strand opened the game with a three-pointer and the Bobcats built a 38-24 advantage at the 1:23 mark following a pair of Katie Bussey free throws.
Back-to-back treys by Idaho State’s (8-17, 5-7) Jenna Brown closed the margin to 40-33 at intermission.
“We were knocking down our shots in the first half,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “We were getting stops and converting on the other end. We had a very balanced effort.”
MSU shot 56 percent from the field in the first stanza, and ended the game shooting 47 percent from the floor.
The Bobcats held the momentum in the second half, before the Bengals cut the lead to 63-60 with 7:09 remaining. MSU went on a 9-2 run over the next seven-minutes to secure the victory.
Montana State was paced by Erica Perry with a game-high 19 points, including a 10-of-16 effort from the free throw line. Also in double-figures for MSU were Nubia Garcia 14, Strand 12 and Bussey 11.
Garcia posted her fifth double-double of the season adding a game-high 12 rebounds. Strand also paced MSU under the boards with nine rebounds. For the game, the Bobcats held a 40-26 advantage under the glass.
“Our starters and bench really came to play,” Binford said. “Nubia and Sarah were very active around the basket, and we got some nice sparks from Lyndi Seidensticker and Jamie Thornton.”
Idaho State was led by Brown with 19 points and five assists.
Montana State will play at Weber State, Saturday afternoon in Ogden, Utah.
