The Montana State women’s basketball team will make its final road trip of the regular-season when it travels to Idaho State and Weber State this weekend. Last weekend, the Bobcats split a pair of Big Sky games in Worthington Arena, losing to Northern Arizona (79-60), before rebounding with a 78-63 decision over Sacramento State. MSU is 10-13 overall and 4-7 in league action. MSU is in a battle for one of four remaining spots in the league’s postseason tournament, which also includes the Bengals and Wildcats. ISU is currently 8-16 overall and 5-6 in Big Sky action. Last week, the Bengals split- losing at Portland State (71-61), before defeating Eastern Washington (69-59). Weber State will play Montana on Thursday. WSU is 8-16 overall and 3-8.
That Was The Week That Was:
The Montana State women’s basketball team made a living off of Sacramento State turnovers, en route to a 78-63 victory on Saturday. MSU notched 37 points off of Sac’s 27 miscues. The opening half featured seven lead changes. In the second stanza, the Bobcats held a 53-49 edge before rattling off a 12-3 run to stake a 65-52 margin. The Hornets didn’t challenge down the stretch. Erica Perry led five Bobcats in double-figures with 16 points, while Strand added 15, Garcia 13, Bussey 11 and Mara Hoefer 10. The ‘Cats were led under the glass by Jenny Heringer with 11 rebounds, while Strand added a career-high ten boards to notch her first double-double as a Bobcat. Northern Arizona shot 50 percent from the field and held MSU to 34 percent from the floor, en route to a 79-60 victory on Thursday. Montana State shot 27 percent from the field in the first half, and NAU closed out the period on an 8-2 run to stake a 33-25 advantage at intermission. In the second stanza, Caty Huntington gave the ‘Jacks a 38-28 lead. NAU held its double-digit advantage the rest of the contest. Perry led MSU with 17 points.
Montana State Player of the Week:
Junior Erica Perry has been named Montana State University Player of the Week for her efforts against Northern Arizona and Sacramento State over the weekend. The 5-foot-4 point guard averaged 16.5 points and 3.0 rebounds as the Bobcats split a pair of Big Sky games in Worthington Arena. In Montana State’s win over Sacramento State on Saturday, Perry led all Bobcats with 16 points, while adding three rebounds and two steals. In MSU’s loss to No. Arizona, she was the only Bobcat player in double-figures with 17 points. She also added three rebounds, two assists and a steal. For the weekend, Perry shot 65 percent from the field and 7-7 from the line.
