Montana State seniors Jeff Hansen and Eric Fisher added punctuation marks to their senior season on Friday, when each earned a spot on the 2009 Football Championship Subdivision Athletic Directors Association Academic All-Star Team.
For Hansen, an offensive guard from Great Falls, the honor adds to a long list of 2009 superlatives. The First Team All-Big Sky selection also earned First Team Walter Camp All-America honors. Hansen finished a career this fall in which he started his last 44 consecutive games for the Bobcats. He has maintained a 3.38 cumulative grade point average as a mechanical engineering technology major.
Montana State's punter, Fisher was among the Big Sky's top punters over the last four years. He averaged 42.6 yards per punt as a senior, pinning the opponent inside the 20-yard line 16 times. The Billings native maintained a 3.45 grade point average during his college career, served as an ASMSU Senator, and was MSU's 2008 Homecoming King.
Fisher and Hansen join 55 other student-athletes comprising the FCS ADA squad. Students qualify for the honor, chosen Friday by a panel of FCS Athletic Directors, by maintaining a GPA of at least 3.2 and showing outstanding merit on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
