Eastern Washington Soars past Bobcat Women

EWU (9-11, 4-3) shot 49 percent from the field and 48 percent from long distance as four players reached double-digits.
MSU (8-11, 2-5) jumped out early, taking a 21-14 lead at the 10:57 mark on a Sarah Strand three-pointer.
The Eagles closed out the final five-minutes on a 10-4 run to enter intermission with a 42-39 cushion.
"Our defense has regressed," said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. "We've given up a ton of points in the last two games, and we are not defending the three.
"We're searching for an answer," Binford said. "We need to regroup and get ready for Saturday."
Eastern Washington opened the second stanza with an 11-3 run taking a 53-42 lead at the 16:37 mark.
Montana State closed to within 55-50 on a Lyndi Seidensticker free throw, but EWU rattled off a 21-9 stretch to put the game away.
Montana State was led by Katie Bussey with a career-high 20 points, while Erica Perry added 17 and Nubia Garcia 13.
EWU was paced by Julie Piper and Nicole Scott with 19 points, apiece.
Montana State will play at league-leading Portland State, Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
