Montana State Women’s Tennis Team Drops Season Opener

“I thought we had a great opening weekend,” said MSU head coach Denise Albrecht. “We competed with two very good squads, and the top of our line-up certainly held their own.”
Highlighting the weekend was the play of Missy Harris, a freshman from Billings. Harris played at No. 2 singles against Penn State and notched a 7-5, 6-0 win over Maria Prishlyak. Against BSU, she tallied a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Klaudia Wlodarcyk in the No. 3 spot.
MSU’s other point came from sophomore Stephanie Jasper, who posted a 7-6, 6-2 win over the Nittany Lions’ Monika Mical at No. 1 singles.
“For a freshman, Missy played with a lot of poise,” Albrecht said. “To be playing in your first matches at the collegiate level and earning two victories over a ranked opponent and a Big-10 team says a lot.
“Stephanie Jasper’s win was also a super achievement,” Albrecht said.
Montana State will open its Big Sky Conference season when it hosts Portland State on Jan. 30 in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.
