Staven Leads Men's Field After Day One of Combined Invite

Staven won both the long and high jump and finished third in the 55 meter dash and shot put to widen his lead. The heptathlon will finish tomorrow for the men with the 55 hurdles, pole vault and 1000 meter run. Events begin at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. MSU senior Mike Green is in fifth place.
On the women’s side, MSU junior Amanda DeHaan finished second in the pentathlon helped by a victory in the 800 meter run portion of the five events. Freshman Sarah McGree finished fourth her first collegiate meet at MSU. The women’s event was won by Amber Akins of Montana.
