Jacquet and Casey Pace MSU Cross Country Time Trials

The men’s team was led by Nick Atwood. Atwood, who will redshirt this fall, covered the five-kilometer course in 15:15.9. He was followed closely by freshman Patrick Casey, 15:25.0, and Matt Beamer, 15:27.4.
“The men are a little behind where we were last year,” said MSU head coach Dale Kennedy. “We’re nursing some injuries; however, Casey and Beamer looked strong.”
Also racing on Saturday were Graydon Curry, 15:47.0, Carl Nystuen, 16:05.3, Devin McDowell, 16:08.9, Dan Jackson, 16:19.4, Kelvin Daratha, 16:24.6, Forrest Jarvi, 16:31.0, Chris Baldus, 16:37.8, Rory Egelus, 16:38.0, and Michael Barker, 17:08.4.
The Bobcat women were paced in its time trail by sophomore Kala Jacquet, who covered the 3200-meter course in 11:33.9. She was flowed by Morgan Dunley, 11:44.7, Heather Haug, 11:49.5, Lauren Kuennen, 12:17.9, and Rebecca Sorenson, 12:48.4.
“I’m pleased with the effort from our women,” Kennedy said. “Kala and Morgan are significantly ahead of where they were a year ago at this point. We still need to get a few kids healthy before our first meet.”
The Bobcats will open their season Sept. 20 when it hosts the MSU Invitational at Bridger Creek Golf Course.
