Demetrius Crawford Chosen Conference Special Teams Player of the Week
Montana State senior Demetrius Crawford earned Big Sky Special Teams Player of the Week honors Monday for his performance at Minnesota over the weekend.
Crawford, a 5-8 175-pound running back from Fairfield, Calif., returned a kick 100 yards for a touchdown in Montana State’s 35-23 loss to Minnesota of the Big Ten Conference. Crawford cut Minnesota’s lead to 14-13 with his second-quarter return. The 100-yard return tied for the longest in Big Sky Conference history. Crawford is the 17th player in league history to return a kick 100 yards, and he finished with 144 yards on four kick returns. He also had 76 rushing yards, finishing with 223 all-purpose yards.

Bobcat volleyball opens its 2008 conference season at home this weekend taking on NAU and Northern Colorado. The Lumberjacks have a preseason record of 8-1, including winning their home Fiesta Bowl Invite last weekend over Duquesne, Navy and Hampton. They are led on the offensive end by freshman Lexi Sullivan who leads the team in kills. Northern Colorado also enjoyed pre season success with a 7-1 record. Their only preseason loss came to North Dakota State on the road.

Montana State cross country opens its season this Saturday with a home meet at Bridger Golf Course. The men’s five-mile begins at 9:00 a.m. and the women’s three-mile starts at 9:45 a.m.

Sept. 22-23: Bulldog and Eagle Invite at Spokane, Wash.
Bobcat golfers hit the road for their second meet of the season this weekend at Spokane, Washington. The meet is hosted jointly by Eastern Washington and Gonzaga. The practice round is Sunday and a round of 36 holes is played on Monday. The final 18 holes are slated for Tuesday morning.
