Bobcats Race Past ASC Grizzlies

Brandon Bostick caught three touchdown passes and true freshman C.J. Palmer ran for two scores as Montana State overwhelmed visiting Adams State 59-3 on Saturday.
The game was the season opener for both teams. It was also the first game on newly installed artificial turf at Bobcat Stadium.
MSU got on the scoreboard first when Jeff Brown returned an Adams State fumble 10 yards for a score. Jason Cunningham, who finished the day with eight successful extra point kicks, added a 40-yard field goal to open the second quarter, giving the Bobcats a 10-0 lead.
After a 20-yard scoring run by Aaron Mason, Bostick found the end zone on a 26-yard strike from Mark Iddins to make it 24-0. Moments later, Iddins again found Bostick, this time from 13 yards out.
Palmer made the score 38-0 at halftime on a 10-yard run.
MSU finished with 229 yards rushing and 144 passing. Demetrius Crawford, who scored a touchdown late in the third quarter, led all rushers with 103 yards on 21 carries.
Adams State, a Division II team from Alamosa, Colo., had 121 yards in total offense and only scored on a 45-yard field goal by Dustin Bolt with 5 seconds to play.
The start of the third quarter was delayed by over an hour as a storm blew through town. Once play resumed, starting MSU quarterback Cody Kempt found Bostick on a 13-yard scoring toss to make it 45-0. Following Crawford’s lone score, Palmer again found the end zone on a 58-yard ramble to give MSU a 59-0 lead. Palmer finished with 77 yards on seven carries.
Kempt, who won the starting quarterback position just a week ago, completed seven of 13 passes for 60 yards. Iddins completed four of seven passes for 65 yards.
MSU travels to Kansas State next Saturday while Adams State visits Southern Utah.
