Montana State (1-1) was paced by senior Kaytlin Van Burger, who tallied six kills, a .364 attack mark and two blocks.
“I was happy with our effort and thought we showed a lot of heart,” said MSU first-year head coach Sara Schaub. “We need to work on being consistent over the course of a match. Early in each game, we were right there, only to see it get away. Our student-athletes are working hard.”
Defensively, the Bobcats were paced by Jodeen Rademacher and Meghan Albiston with a match-high nine digs. Nicole Grypiuk and Kyla Hendry led MSU at the net with three blocks apiece.
Junior setter Taylor Faught posted 21 assists and three digs.
MSU will face Portland, Saturday night in Shroyer Gym to conclude play in the 14th Annual Holiday Inn Classic.
