Maybe Tuesday.
Rob Ash and his coaching staff retreated to the MSU coaches complex in Brick Breeden Fieldhouse on Monday after practice, hoping that a look at video of the team's Monday practice would help them sort out the team's quarterback position.
With five days remaining until Saturday's season opener against Adams State, Ash wasn't quite ready to pick a starting signal caller. "Those guys are very even," Ash said, "it is such a close battle."
Ash said he hopes to have a decision sometime on Tuesday.

Ash also indicated that safety Arnold Briggs would miss Saturday's game for a violation of team rules. The suspension of one game is to be served for what Ash called "an old issue."

Jim Verlanic is doubtful for Saturday's game with his high ankle sprain, but Ash is not ruling him out. "Every day he goes without full mobility makes it more problematic" for Verlanic to play Saturday, Ash said. "But he desperately wants to play. We'll take it day by day."
