“Our goals coming into the match were communication, work-ethic and having fun,” said MSU first-year head coach Sara Schaub. “I think where we succeeded was being consistent with our energy and enthusiasm.”
Junior transfer Taylor Faught, who played the last two seasons at MSU Billings, dished out 53 assists, while adding six digs. Senior Laura Viren recorded seven kills and 12 digs, while junior outside hitter Nicole Grypiuk added nine kills.
“We need to keep working on our passing, and getting our hitters running quicker,” Schaub said. “This match was good in terms of getting into the uniform and playing.”
The MSU Alumni team was paced by Kelly Modrow-Lindseth, who posted ten kills.
Montana State opens the regular season on Friday when it hosts the 14th Annual Holiday Inn Classic. The Bobcats will face the University of Portland at 12 p.m., on Friday in the Classic opener.
