Former Western Michigan Standout Named Montana State Volleyball Assistant

Sulewski spent last spring teaching in the Richland, Michigan school system. She also served as head coach of the Looga Volleyball Club in Portage, Mich.
“We’re excited to have Jenifer on staff,” Schaub said. “She was an outstanding collegiate setter and trained under some of the best coaches in the country. Jenifer will be able to pass that knowledge on to our players at MSU.”
Sulewski played at Western Michigan for four seasons and was a two-time All-Mid American Conference selection. As a senior, she captained the Broncos and was named team most valuable player.
She finished her career with the WMU single-season record with 1,760 assists. In addition, Sulewski finished second on WMU’s all-time assists chart with 3,601, and single-season assists per game list averaging 13.23 a contest. Her 13.23 assists per game average as a senior ranked 21st in the nation.
During her stint in Kalamazoo, Mich., Sulewski earned three tournament MVP honors, including the WMU Clarion Classic, the TIS/Indiana University Invitational and the Marquette Tournament. As a frosh, she was the WMU Rookie of the Year.
Off the court, Sulewski was involved with Race for the Cure; Kids Life Camp for Brain Injuries; Bronson Hospital Children’s Wing; and the Heritage Retirement Community of Kalamazoo.
“What excites me about Montana State is that I can come in and help build a program,” Sulewski said. “Coaching is what I want to do and what I’m going to pursue. My life-long goal is to be a NCAA Division I head coach, and MSU is the perfect place for me to begin my career.
“I love the game and have a passion for helping the players become better student-athletes,” she added.
Sulewski, a 2008 graduate of WMU, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business, with a minor in mathematics.
