Bobcat coach Rob Ash was pleased with the improvement Montana State's offense showed in Tuesday's lone practice.
"I felt like the offense made a real big stride forward today," Ash said. "We got a lot more plays off properly, it seemed like the offensive line was more in tune with what they needed to do, our tempo of getting plays off and doing them the right way was better. I was very encouraged (with the offense) today."

MSU staged a Third Down Challenge as the last segment of its Tuesday afternoon practice, pitting the first offense against the first defense and the second offense against the second defense. Each defensive unit won the best-of-five challenge four to one.
The third-down segment of practice afforded the Bobcat defense the opportunity to answer the offensive unit's previous productivity in the session. "At the very end of practice we had the third-and-medium plays, and I thought the defense stepped up their play and the offense was on their heels a little bit."
Ash was pleased with the affect of the drill. "One, it gives us a sense of how important third downs are. Two, it gets everybody playing at their very highest level. We can really see who is going to play in crucial situations. It makes a big impact, and hopefully it will carry over into the season.

Kansas State University announced on Tuesday that MSU's game against the Wildcats on September 6 will be televised by Fox College Sports. Check local cable companies for access.

The Bobcats are at the point in camp where emotion rises and tempers flare, and Rob Ash is fine with it.
"Guys are playing hard and competing with each other, and tempers flare and people get excited. That's football."
Ash said such situations "gives us a great learning environment to learn how to play with emotion but (how to) control our emotions," he said. "When the play starts you play hard, you go like crazy, but when the play ends you have to have the composure to go back to the huddle."
