Bobcats Reorganize Academic Center

The summer Montana State University's Athletic Academic Center is growing, and so are the responsibilities of its director.
Kylie Perlinski, a former Bobcat golfer who has served as MSU's Athletic Academic Coordinator since February, 2004, becomes the Director of Athletic Academic Services on July 1. According to MSU Athletic Director Peter Fields, Perlinski's promotion brings her more responsibility.
"Kylie's performance in her current role has been outstanding," Fields said. "She is an asset to this Department and to our student-athletes. Her promotion reflects both her performance and her readiness for more responsibility."
In addition to an expansion of responsibilities, Perlinski oversees an expansion of the Center. Bobcat Athletics recently began implementing a plan that doubles the size of the Center and more than doubles the number of computer and study stations available to student-athletes.
"These additions to our Academic Center show Bobcat Athletics' strong commitment toward the success of our student-athletes," Perlinski said. "We're excited about the academic services we'll be able to provide as we move forward."
In her new position, Perlinski oversees eligibility and graduation status of current student-athletes, evaluation of prospective student-athletes, and manages the daily academic responsibilities of nine athletic squads. She will work more closely with MSU's academic departments, help increase oversight of MSU's athletic academic responsibilities with the Big Sky Conference and NCAA, and will work to make the Academic Center more accessible and functional for MSU's student-athletes.
In addition to revising Perlinski's role in the Academic Center and the Center's physical space, Fields also indicated another full-time position joins the Academic Center staff this fall. The new staff member, who manages the Life Skills program for Bobcat student-athletes, joins a staff that also includes Athletic Academic Coordinator Jamie Rizzuto, who joined Bobcat Athletics in January. She coordinates the academic efforts of eight sports, along with initial eligibility and amateurism issues.
