Haug recently captured three Class A state titles at the outdoor championships in Bozeman, last month. She won medalist honors at 800-meters, mile run and 3200-meters.
Haug clocked a personal best 2:19 in the 800, while posting 5:16 in the mile and 11:44 in the 3200-meters.
“Heather is coming off a huge spring season,” Kennedy said. “She is a terrific kid and we’re excited to have her as a Bobcat. Heather will make an immediate impact on our program, especially in cross country.”
Haug was the 2005 Class A cross country champion.
Haug joins Christina Alexander of Olympia, Wash., Larkin Guenther of Lander, Wyo., Rebecca Sorenson of Cloquet, Minn., and Lauren Kuennen of Whitefish on the Bobcat distance squad.
“This is one of the biggest freshmen distance groups we’ve signed in a long time,” Kennedy said. “We’re very excited about this class and it’s the start of a new wave.”
MSU will open its cross country season Sept. 20 with the Montana State Invite.
