Schaub Completes Recruiting Class with Three Additions to Bobcat Volleyball Program

Merrell, a 6-0 native of Orem, Utah, is a four-year letterwinner at Mountain View High School. A two-time all-state performer, Merrell was the 2007 region most valuable player. In addition, she was a three-time all-conference pick as well as a two-time team MVP.
“Macy will contribute to our team in many different ways,” Schaub said. “She trained her first three high school seasons as a setter, and then moved to the outside hitting position where she has excelled. She is an all-around player that will be able to contribute both in the front and back row.”
An outstanding student, Merrell was president of the Health Occupations Students of America. She is the daughter of Maile and Jerry Jewkes.
Oemcke, a 6-0 graduate of Santa Fe Christian in San Diego, Calif., helped lead her squad to the 2007 Division IV state title defeating Harker High School of San Jose. She was also a member of the 2005 DIV state championship squad. A three-year varsity player, Oemcke played club ball with Solana Beach.
“Chelsea will add depth to our middle blocking position,” Schaub said. “She is very quick and plays at a high level above the net. Although her high school and club playing experiences have been very competitive, I feel that Chelsea has only scratched the surface of her potential.”
Off the court, Oemcke is a two-time all-academic selection. She is the daughter of Mark and Sue Oemcke.
Rademacher, a 6-0 transfer from Iowa Western Community College, is a native of Adams, Neb., and a graduate of Freeman High School. A four-year letterwinner with the Falcons, she helped guide FHS to a 108-26 overall mark during her tenure with the squad, including a 31-3 mark her senior season and a D1 state title.
A three-time all-state selection, Rademacher was an Omaha Herald and Lincoln Journal Star Second-Team All-Class Super State honoree. She was also a member of the Nebraska All-Star squad. Rademacher holds the Freeman High School mark for most kills in a season with 364.
“Jo is joining our program after spending a year at one of the best junior colleges in the country,” Schaub said. “She will bring power and aggressiveness to our outside hitting position. With her size and experience she will be looking for playing time right away.”
In her only season at Iowa Western, Rademacher led the Reivers to a 58-5 overall ledger and a seventh place finish at the 2007 NJCAA National Tournament. On the year, she recorded 360 kills and 135 digs, while hitting .279 from the field.
An outstanding student, Rademacher is a three-time honor roll selection and a National Honor Society member. She is the daughter of Les and Marcella Rademacher.
“The six newcomers to the program will greatly compliment our solid returning core,” Schaub said. “The eight returning players worked very hard this spring and have made great improvements in a small amount of time. I’m very eager to get the whole group together this fall.”
